How to get an email’s headers
Every mail client hides the raw message somewhere different. Pick yours below and copy the full source, then paste it into the analyzer.
Copy the full source, not just the headers. The analyzer reads the body too — it checks the subject and message text for spam signals and inspects every link — so a headers-only copy leaves those checks empty.
Gmail
Desktop browser only- 1Open the message in Gmail in a desktop browser.
- 2Click the three-dot More menu at the top right of the message, next to Reply.
- 3Choose Show original. A new tab opens with the full message.
- 4Click Copy to clipboard, then paste it into the analyzer.
The Gmail apps for Android and iOS have no Show original option. You need a desktop browser — the mobile web version at mail.google.com in desktop mode also works.
Outlook.com · Hotmail · Outlook on the web
outlook.com and outlook.office.com- 1Open the message.
- 2Click the three-dot menu at the top right of the message.
- 3Choose View, then View message source.
- 4Select everything in the box and copy it.
This is the recommended route for anyone on Microsoft 365, including people who normally use the desktop Outlook app — it is the only Microsoft path that gives the body as well as the headers.
Outlook for Windows (masaüstü)
Classic desktop appHeaders only- 1Double-click the message so it opens in its own window.
- 2Go to File, then Properties.
- 3Copy everything from the Internet headers box at the bottom.
This box holds the headers only — no message body. Content and link analysis will stay empty. Saving the message gives a .msg file, which is a binary format this tool cannot read. For a complete analysis, open the same message in Outlook on the web instead.
Yahoo Mail
Desktop browser- 1Open the message.

AOL Mail
Desktop browser- 1Open the message.
- 2Click the three-dot More menu in the message toolbar.
- 3Choose View message source.

AOL Mail runs on the same platform as Yahoo Mail, so the two look nearly identical.
Apple Mail (macOS)
Mail app on macOS- 1Select the message.
- 2Open the View menu, then Message.
- 3Choose Raw Source, or press Option-Command-U.
- 4Select everything and copy it.
The nearby All Headers option, Shift-Command-H, shows headers without the body. Pick Raw Source so content and link analysis have something to work with.
Thunderbird
Desktop app- 1Select the message.

Proton Mail
Desktop browser- 1Open the message.
- 2Click the three-dot menu at the top right of the message.
- 3Choose View message source.
- 4Select everything and copy it.
The same menu also offers View headers, which omits the body.
Mail providers rename menu items from time to time. If a step below does not match what you see, the option is usually one level up or down in the same menu — look for the word “source”, “original” or “raw”.
